Why the damper is built upside down.

Section through a Neotech inverted monotube coiloverFrom the top: an anti-NVH top mount with a rubber isolator and a camber-adjustable plate, then the large-diameter damper body holding the nitrogen chamber, floating piston, oil column and NDP piston, with the coil spring around it. The thin piston rod exits downward, below the load path, to the lower mount.

Coil spring

Rate is yours to set before assembly, within ±2 kg/mm.

Damper body — large diameter

Inverted, so the large-diameter body sits in the primary load path.

NDP piston and valve stack

Firm through the body-control range, then digressive so sharp hits are absorbed.

Ride-height collar

Threaded body, set independently of spring preload.

Piston rod — protected

Shielded below, so the seal and guide wear far less over the damper’s life.

Damping is a curve, not a number.
